Hey guys! Welcome back to what in my professional opinion is the best blog ever! This week past week has been quite the doozy. My team had the honor of planning and carrying out church on Sunday. And again, in my professional opinion, it was the most baller church service to ever be put on. By this I mean it was the most fun and joyous service to have ever been in the history of ever. Now that I have set your expectations as high as humanly possible let me tell you a little bit about our church.

Two things that my team and I hold in high regard are freedom and joy so we decided to make those the focus of Sunday. This impacted every decision we made about squad church. We asked everyone to come in the outfit that makes them the most confident because we wanted people to feel their absolute best no matter what that looks like. We chose to hold it outside because there truly is a certain freedom to worshipping without being in the constraints of a building. We held it at sunset so we could see a beautiful sky throughout. We encouraged those who felt comfortable to dance around and just let loose during the songs. We sat ourselves in a circle on blankets campfire style (just with no fire sadly) so that it would be the most comfortable and warm environment that we could create.

Now that you can see the vision for church I’ll tell you how the service went. We greeted everyone with bubbles and a handwritten note. It began immediately with a time of worship which is when i promptly danced with everyone I could get to. After this we had three speakers. Surprise! One of them was me. I spent my time talking gaining freedom from your past and giving it up to God. I have genuinely never been so nervous in my life but I just went for it. Honestly I think I blacked out out of fear so I haven’t a clue what I said but you can find out at the link at the bottom of this blog. Then Maggie talked about the difference between happiness and joy and how joy comes from the Lord. Camille wrapped up the speaking by speaking on looking to impress God with your actions instead of your neighbor. After this we did an activity. We had each person write something they needed to let go of and give to God on an old leaf. When they were ready we encouraged them to crumple up the leaf and let it go. At that point we replaced the old leaf with a new green leaf where they replaced what they had just given up with truth. This could have been a bible verse or even just a positive word they were speaking over themselves. We let everyone sit with that for about ten minutes before finishing with some hymns and then…. A DANCE PARTY!!!

This was genuinely a time that I absolutely loved. Each person there got to come as they were. They got to be their pure selves and THAT is what it’s all about. Now if you’re not to plum tuckered out from reading this blog then hop on over to the link to hear my…sermon? Talk? Speech? Monologue?

all the love,
