I was supposed to be in my bed at approximately 9:08 PM on May 31. But plans change. It is June 3 and I am sitting on the top bunk of the mega bed Emily, Bethany, and I built in our quarantine room. That’s right folks, you heard it here first. Three members of our squad tested positive so the rest of us are quarantining and waiting for a new test. 

 Until then we decided to do a 24-hour prayer day. We aren’t necessarily praying for negative results but instead for God to open our hearts to what He is doing. For the members of our squad who are already back in the United States. For the three who actually have Covid. 

 Praising Him for what He has given us. Beds. Food. A family to go through this with. Reagan’s hard drive with hundreds of movies. A few more days to debrief this crazy, crazy life we have been living for the last nine months.

 At 12:20 last night it was officially my turn to talk to Dad. No not Kevin Hicks, dad. But Eternal King. Him Who is Above All.  Savior of Truth. Redeemer of the Universe. Prince of Peace. My Heavenly Dad. That Guy. And He had some pretty beautiful things to say to me.

 “I dot the sun in the sky every morning because I love you.

I paint the clouds in the blue because I love you.

I created every color because I love you.

I wrote every song because I love you.

I made every animal and plant and flower and feeling because I love you.

I love you.

If you test negative, it’s because I love you.

If you test positive, it’s because I love you.”

 Dude, you can’t tell me that’s not wild. He made the pretty colors of sunsets because He knew I would admire them. He made the feeling of the warmth of sun hitting my back because He knew I would love it. He created every movie I watched as a kid because he knew they would inspire me. He made dandelions and shooting stars and blowing out candles and throwing coins in fountains so my life would feel magical. He made every single one of those things just for me. And just for you. And just for every single person. But just for me. 

 HOW COOL IS THAT? I have a Father that loves me so much that He created an entire universe and everything in it JUST FOR ME. AND YOU HAVE THAT SAME FATHER!!!!!!

 He loves me so much that today when I test again if I come back positive it is because of His love. And if I come back negative it is also because of His love. He is a Lord of provision and He loves me. So, today two hours before my test I trust Him. And thirty minutes after, when I get my results I will worship Him. Either way.
